We’re excited to share the terms of our new Kathmandu membership rewards program with you.
Outside is where we all come alive and we want to encourage more people to get outdoors and enjoy it.
The Kathmandu Out There Rewards Program is designed to encourage our communities to get out and explore, letting your brain and body feel free with all that is great in the world outside.
Watch this space as we continue to introduce new ways to earn points under the Out There Rewards Program.
1) Eligibility
- Membership of the Out There Rewards Program (Program) is free to all Australian and New Zealand residents aged 16 years or over with a valid email address.
- Memberships are limited to one membership per person. An individual is not entitled to have more than one membership.
- Our employees, and their immediate family members, are not eligible to participate in Program benefits, including the accumulated spend reward or any discounts or rewards offered from time to time.
- Our employees and their immediate family members are restricted from participating in promotions offered to members. Please refer to individual promotional terms for further details.
- Membership of the Program is limited to individuals. Community groups, corporations, partnerships, trusts and other entities are not eligible for membership in the Program.
- Membership and any benefits derived from membership in the Program cannot be used for business purposes.
- Items purchased using benefits derived from membership in the Program are not transferrable and cannot be resold for profit.
- The Terms and Conditions that apply to the Program may be updated from time to time by us. Copies of the Terms and Conditions for the Program can be found here.
- By signing up for membership of the Program you agree that you have read, understood and accept the Kathmandu Privacy Statement and that you are also eligible for membership of the Program.
2) How do I sign up to the Program?
- You can sign up to the Program through:
- Our website
- Instore.
- You do not need to make a minimum purchase to join as a member of the Program.
- You will need a valid email address to sign up to the Program.
- You will receive a digital membership card via email once you have successfully joined the Program.
- No physical membership cards will be provided.
- If you have been a member of Summit Club since 2018, your Summit Club membership will automatically transfer to an Out there rewards membership.
3) What is happening to Summit Club benefits?
- From 7th September 2023 we will be closing our Summit Club benefits program.
- Any Summit Club members with an existing points balance at this date will have their points transferred to the Program from 7th September 2023.
- Existing Summit Club members will transition across as a Member with the Program.
- All existing Summit Club members will be offered the chance to transfer their Summit Club membership to membership of the Program.
- All vouchers issued through the Summit Club before it is closed will remain valid until their expiry dates and subject to their terms of issue.
4) How do I earn points?
- We want you to have as many opportunities as possible to earn points under the Program. You can earn points through:
- Shopping
- Participating in Customer Surveys
- By completing Out There Activities
- You will receive one point for each $1AUD/NZD (or part thereof) spent instore and/or online through www.kathmandu.com.au, other than in connection with the purchase of gift cards, e-vouchers or gift vouchers or postage/shipping fees.
- In order to receive your points for purchases, you must identify yourself as a member of the Program at the time of making your purchase by either:
- Notifying our staff instore; or
- Logging into your Out There Rewards account prior to checking out online.
- You will not receive points for purchases made through third party sites and marketplaces, including for example: eBay, Facebook Marketplace, The Iconic, TradeMe, Gumtree.
- You will not receive points for purchases of gift cards, e-vouchers or gift vouchers.
- You will not receive points for a purchase, or portion of a purchase, made using rewards vouchers or birthday vouchers (including Summit Club rewards or birthday vouchers) up to the value of that voucher. For example, if you purchase an item for $100 and part of the purchase is paid for using a $10 annual rewards voucher, you will receive 90 points.
- You will be eligible to receive points by completing a survey via your Online Account, which you can access by logging into your account on www.kathmandu.com.au. All surveys are eligible for points as we want our customers to provide honest feedback in response to our surveys.
- You will be eligible to receive points by logging your activities through your Online Account, which you can access by logging into your account on www.kathmandu.com.au.
- We may implement point caps in relation to accruing points for particular activities, and any point caps may be applied, amended or removed from time to time.
- You will be eligible to receive points by completing an online product review in relation to a Kathmandu product you have purchased. All product reviews are eligible for points as we want all customers to have the benefit of honest feedback about our products.
- The number of points available for responding to surveys, logging your activities and providing product reviews (including any cap on those points) will be described on your Online Account.
- Points earned through making a purchase or from non-purchase activities will be added to your online points balance within 48 hours of purchase/completing the activity.
- If you return a product for which you received points for a refund, the amount of the refund will be deducted from your total points balance. This may cause you to move to a different level based on your points balance.
- You can view your points balance by logging into your Online Account, which you can access by logging into your account on www.kathmandu.com.au.
- We may, in our absolute discretion decide to offer you additional ways to earn Points and any such offers will be on the terms and conditions advised by us.
5) How do the levels work?
- The Program includes four levels and you can progress up through levels by earning more points.
- Member – 0 – 249 points in a 12-month period
- Level 1 – 250 – 499 points in a 12-month period
- Level 2 – 500 – 1,199 points in a 12-month period
- Level 3 – 1,200 + points in a 12-month period
- Members of all levels will be eligible to be invited to participate in promotional offers from time to time.
- Once you reach a new level, you will be able to enjoy the benefits of that level for 12 months, unless:
- your points balance increases, in which case you can move up to the next level once you have accrued sufficient points,
- or your points balance decreases, which can occur when you have returned items for a refund, in which case you could drop down a level based on your total points balance.
- We will review your points balance at your Level Anniversary Date (the anniversary of the date your latest level was achieved). Provided the total of your points (including any deductions for returns) for the 12 months to the Level Anniversary Date are at least equal to the points threshold for your level, you will remain on your level for the next 12 months. If your points balance at your Level Anniversary Date is lower than the points balance for the level you are currently on, your level will be reduced to the appropriate level.
- The example below sets out how points may increase and how points can reduce due to returns.
On 1 August you have a points balance of 100 points. On 2 August you make a $200 purchase which causes your points balance to increase by 200 points, bringing your new points balance to 300 points. You will then move to Level 1 with effect from 2 August. Your level anniversary date will be 2 August in the following year. If you don’t add any further points to your points balance (through purchases, completing surveys or logging activities) and your points balance does not reduce due to refunds of items that accrued points, you will remain on Level 1 until 1 August the following year.
If on 2 October that year you make another $150 purchase and you have also earned 50 points through logging activities and completing surveys, your points balance will increase from 300 points to 500 points. You will then move from Level 1 to Level 2 on 2 October. Your new level anniversary date will be 2 October. If you don’t add any further points to your points balance (through purchases, completing surveys or logging activities) and your points balance does not reduce due to refunds of items that accrued points, you will remain on Level 2 until 1 October the following year.
If on 10 October (when your points balance is 500 and you are a Level 2 member) you return $350 worth of purchases, your points balance will drop by 350 points, bringing your new points balance to 150. This will also cause you to move down from Level 2 to Member, as you no longer reach the points threshold for Level 2. Your new level anniversary date will be 10 October and you will remain at Member for the next 12 months unless you earn further points.
6) What are the different benefits?

- We reserve the right to change or update the point balance required for a particular level or the benefits provided under a particular level from time to time.
- Vouchers will be issued in the currency that applies to the membership country registered in your membership profile. If your membership country is Australia, you will receive vouchers in AUD, if your membership country is NZ, you will receive vouchers in NZD.
- Member Deals do not apply to the purchase of gift cards or e-gift cards.
- You will receive your annual reward voucher (containing a unique code) approximately 14 days after reaching your new level. Your voucher will be available in your Online Account and may also be emailed to you. We may issue multiple vouchers where you have upgraded across more than one level in a single transaction (for example where the value of your spend in a particular transaction sees you move between Member and up to Level 3 membership, you will receive 3 x separate annual reward vouchers of $15, $25 and $60, for a total value of $100).
- You will only receive one birthday voucher per year. The value of birthday vouchers will be determined by reference to the level you are on as at the date of the birthday recorded in your Online Account when you signed up. Only one birthday voucher will be issued in the 12 months after you have received a birthday voucher.
- Birthday vouchers will be issued within 24 hours of the date recorded as your birthday on your Online Account.
- You can receive up to 2 x Surprise and Delight gifts in a single 12 month period.
- You will only receive one AllTrails+ membership free trial in a 12 month period. For the avoidance of doubt, if you reach level 1, 2 and 3 in a 12 month period you will not receive the 3 month trial, plus the 6 month trial, plus the 12 month trial. You will only receive the 3 month trial
7) How do I use my Out There Rewards voucher?
- For in-store purchases, the unique code provided to you via email or shown on a printed version of the email must be shown to the staff member upon purchase.
- Alternatively, a staff member can check your membership details at the point of sale and confirm whether you have any eligible vouchers.
- For online purchases, at the either the 'Your Bag' or 'Checkout' step of the checkout process, under 'Add Gift Card or Discount Code', enter the voucher code for the relevant voucher and select "Apply".
- Birthday vouchers are valid for 30 days from the date of issue and will include a minimum spend requirement that will be set out on the face of the voucher and varies based on your membership level. For example:
- Member receives a $10 birthday voucher with a $20 minimum spend.
- Level 1 receives a $20 birthday voucher with a $20 minimum spend.
- Level 2 receives a $30 birthday voucher with a $30 minimum spend.
- Level 3 receives a $50 birthday voucher with a $50 minimum spend.
- Annual reward vouchers are valid for 6 months from date of issue and include a minimum spend requirements as marked on the voucher and set out below:
- Level 1 receives a $15 annual reward voucher with a $60 minimum spend.
- Level 2 receives a $25 annual reward voucher with a $60 minimum spend.
- Level 3 receives a $60 annual reward voucher with a $60 minimum spend.
- You can use as many vouchers in the one transaction as you like; however the minimum spend for each voucher will also need to be satisfied. So, if you use a birthday voucher with a minimum spend of $20 and an annual reward voucher with a minimum spend of $60 you will need to have a minimum spend of $80 on that transaction (being the total of the two minimum spend amounts).
- Birthday vouchers or annual reward vouchers cannot be partially redeemed. Any amount not redeemed in the one transaction will be forfeited.
- Neither birthday vouchers nor annual reward vouchers can be used to purchase gift cards or e-gift cards.
- Birthday vouchers and annual reward vouchers will not be accepted if disfigured or photocopied and will not be replaced if lost.
- Birthday vouchers and annual reward vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash.
- Birthday vouchers and annual reward vouchers can be redeemed in-store and online, but only in the country of issue. This means that if your voucher is issued in NZD, you can redeem it in any New Zealand store, or online at Kathmandu.co.nz. If your voucher is issued in AUD, you can redeem it in any Australian store, or online at Kathmandu.com.au.
- Birthday vouchers and annual reward vouchers cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.
- Out There Rewards $15 Sign Up Voucher: Sign up to Out There Rewards and get $15 off your first purchase when you spend over $100. Limited time only. Voucher valid 14 days from date of issue. Single transaction only. New OTR member sign ups only. Excludes clearance, e-Gift cards. While stocks last.
8) When will I receive my Surprise and Delight Gift?
- You will receive an email letting you know that you have a Surprise and Delight gift waiting for you in-store. Simply present your email or a printed copy of your email in-store to collect your gift.
- Surprise and Delight Gifts are offered for a limited time only and while stocks last.
- Surprise and Delight Gifts cannot be redeemed or exchanged for cash, refunds or other products.
- From 1/1/25 onwards, Level 3 members will only receive 1 x gift per year. For the avoidance of doubt, Level 3 members with a level anniversary date from 1/4/25 onwards will only receive 1 x gift per year.
9) AllTrails+ Free Membership
- AllTrails+ membership free trials must be redeemed by 30 June 2025, regardless of when the reward is received.
- AllTrails+ membership free trials are subject to AllTrails terms and conditions (available at https://www.alltrails.com/terms).
- AllTrails+ membership free trials issued through Out There Rewards are free of charge for the length of the free trial. AllTrails+ memberships will automatically renew on the renewal date and a membership fee will be payable. You may choose to cancel your AllTrails+ membership at any time prior to the renewal date, in accordance with AllTrails’ membership terms and conditions.
- You must be aged 18 years or over to redeem an AllTrails+ membership free trial. If you are aged between 16 and 17 years you may redeem an AllTrails+ membership free trial with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian. We reserve the right to revoke any free trial membership if it is redeemed by a person aged under 18 or a person aged 16 to 17 without consent of a parent or guardian.
10) Other Important Terms
- We may offer discounted pricing or exclusive deals to Program members from time to time on Kathmandu branded gear, including on specific product ranges or multi-buy offers. Please check the additional terms and conditions which will apply to each offer at the time the offer is made.
- When you become a member of the Program, you agree that we may collect your personal information (including for example name, email address, phone number, postal address, age range) for the purpose of communicating with you as a member of the Program, for marketing, to provide you with offers from the Program, to provide you with benefits under the Program (such as your Birthday Voucher) and provide you with information about Kathmandu. By accepting membership in the Program and providing information to us, you agree to be contacted for this purpose.
- You can opt out of receiving marketing information from the Program at any time if you choose to do so through your "Profile" on your Online Account, or by clicking on the unsubscribe link in any email we send you.
- By accepting membership of the Program, you agree to these terms and conditions and any variation. You also agree to provide us with any changes to your contact details from time to time.
- We may amend how points may be earned, the levels and benefits of the Program and these Terms and Conditions from time to time. We will make all reasonable efforts to communicate changes using such methods including, but not limited to emails, and through your Online Account.
- We reserve the right to terminate the Program at any time and we will provide you fair and adequate notice if we decide to do this.
- If you have queries regarding the Program, you can read more in our Help Centre.
- Personal information provided will be managed in accordance with Kathmandu’s Privacy Statement as may be amended from time to time.
- Any breach by you of these Terms and Conditions may result in immediate termination of your membership in the Program and all related benefits without further notice to you.
